Toki the Silver Fox was born from an intimate encounter with a silver fox pelt acquired in Fairbanks, Alaska. Holding the fur in her hands, Alexa Maithé found herself imagining the spirit of the animal—its personality, its journey, the landscapes it once crossed, and the life it lived. From this contemplation, Toki emerged.

The relationship between life and death is a recurring theme in Alexa’s artistic practice. Rather than viewing them as opposites, she explores them as interconnected forces that shape transformation, memory, and existence. Through symbolism and storytelling, she invites the viewer to reflect on the invisible threads that connect the physical and spiritual worlds.
