Tai-Xi Shadow & Light – Metal prints

Shadow and Light is an original digital artwork born from Alexa Maithé's exploration of movement, the body, and ancient practices of self-discovery.

In 2020, Alexa began exploring yoga and Tai Chi as ways of discovering the body's full potential. During this period, her drawings became a reflection of her physical and emotional experience—particularly the relationship between tension, movement, breath, and shadow.

Shadow and Light emerges from this exploration: a visual journey of moving through what feels heavy, integrating the shadow, and releasing tension and energy to become lighter. The mirrored imagery reflects the idea that we are constantly reflecting one another through our relationships, encounters, and relational dynamics, continuously discovering more about ourselves and the world around us.

At its core, this is a Xi exploration—a meditation on energy moving through the body and along its chakra channels, through shadow and light, contraction and release, separation and connection.
